The Evolution of a Mustache Cookie

One of my favorite things to do relating to baking is translate an invitation into a cookie. I openly welcome clients to send me copies of their party paper goods and love to use them as inspiration. The latest was a mustache/chevron bright colored invitation for a friend's son's first birthday party. I thought it was adorable and set to work on making cookies to compliment.

Mustaches were up first. For once I remembered to take a few photos along the way so I could share the full evolution of a (mustache) cookie.

Voila!

The order was completed with chevron monogrammed cookies.

Thank you Kathryn! You did a wonderful job with R's party and I appreciate you including me to be a part of it.

Lilly Saturday Night

A few Saturday nights ago one of my BFFs called to see if I wanted to go check out our new Lilly Pulitzer store with she and her daughter. That may not sound like what everyone wants to do on their Saturday night but I was game, especially after watching the whole store be constructed via Instagram. So off we went and we were not disappointed.

We were greeted with what I would call a pretty perfect color palette.

We did little shopping and much gawking. Thankfully the ladies of Lilly were proud to show off every last detail and didn't seem to mind one bit that we posed for photos galore.

Things seem to be getting rather modern at Lilly these days...

Seriously. I would be happy for my home to look similar to all that we saw...and thankfully my husband would just laugh. (I think.)

It was a fun outing that ended with dinner at our favorite local Mexican restaurant.

So many favorites in only one little Saturday. Life is good!

Baby (Boy) Shower Cookies

It would not be a week at One Preppy Cookie without adding some baby cookies into the mix! Last week included baby carriages, diapers and of course monograms. One set traveled to a baby shower out of state and the other I was able to bring along on my girls' weekend trip a few hours away.

Even though you have seen many variations of these, it doesn't mean that I am able to cut down on the actual creation time at all. Each cookies is lovingly cut, baked, piped, flooded and detailed before packaging.

For example, baby carriage cookies before:

And after:

Thank you Stefanie and Kara!

Checking In

Well, no excuses...I'm a bad blogger. Between the holidays and my real job (okay, yes there are excuses) it has just gotten away from me. I'm not going to make any grand promises about future blogging improvement so in the meantime I wanted to share an article where someone else did the writing for me. There you'll find my first little cookie-related interview, a few photos and even a written tutorial. In other words, much better than anything I have been giving you lately!
